Siderite is a common type of iron ore. It is a carbonate iron ore with a theoretical iron content of more than 45%. Theoratically, iron of siderite is of low grade. It is often combined with calcium, magnesium, and manganese in symbiosis. It is difficult for common ore dressing method to make iron concentrate grade higher than 45%. In addition, burn rate of siderate is large, which will reduce the utilization factor of blast furnace and increase energy consumption. However, after calcining, grade of refined iron ore can be greatly improved. Therefore, siderite rotary kiln must be calcined first before beneficiation.
