Fluid bed dryer holds low capacity, so it is not suitable to dry sticky and high-moisture materials. Air flow dryer occupies less area, but consumes more energy and holds less capacity while producing more exhaust gas. As for rotary drum dryer, although it is featured in high passing volume and high anti-overload resistance, final products produced by rotary drum dryer is always not uniform. Taeda European style dryer integrates advantages of above three dryers. It holds higher capacity, occupies less area, and produces uniform final products. It is a kind of efficient new drying technology.
Start and Practice of OSC-AST Air Swept Tubular Drying Technology
As early as 80s, Taeda engineer Li Ao has put forward to Rotary shaft concept based on rotary drum dryer. After continuous exploration and development, European Style Dryer Series was born under leading of Taeda technical team. Typical representative is TDQ dryer designed for high moisture manure and worse slag, OSA dryer designed for fermented materials and OSB dryer designed for tea grass materials. While upgrading dispersing and cleaning function of traditional rotary dryer, AST dryer makes use of one rotary shaft to extend residence time, form material curtain and break surface. But, this is still in a very preliminary stage and rotary drum itself is major impetus for raw material. According to our senior engineer’s words, it is not creative enough.
In the year of 2006, Chinese Coal market enters to a breakthrough period. People who hold enough money push forward rapid development of coal market. Against this background, coal slurry become new study project of Taeda people. Traditional coal drying always adopts rotary dryer with large body and low evaporation capacity. Rotary wing type concept was put forward by Taeda technical engineer, which totally changes the conventional idea that drum must rotate itself. In addition, during soft simulation, we did more thorough adjustment to heat exchanging chamber and make cylinder to shell shape. We also add air damper. Since then, WJG drying technology (horizontal stirring drying) emerged. After 2-year improvement and test, First WJG dryer was built at Liupanshui, Guizhou Province. Same length, its capacity is double for that of common rotary dryer. Customers settled two news purchase orders. Good news is that WJG dryer makes coal slurry drying technology upgraded greatly. But, very soon, our WJG dryer technology is copied by other suppliers. In order to show our special feature, we did deep R&D to WJG dryer and expand it to OSD series dryer which is divided to two types which are single shaft hot air stirring dryer and double shaft horizontal hot air stirring dryer. Double shaft horizontal hot air stirring dryer is used to accomplish 7t/15t drying task.
Birth of single shaft hot air stirring dryer is a new technical step for Taeda OSC-AST air swept tubular drying system.
Back to Basics and Insist on Innovation
In winter of 2009, sales representative put forward market demand for dryer which integrates drying and crushing at brainstorm conference at R&D center, which inspired technical department. Soon afterwards, technical department come up with concepts of single shaft hot air stirring dryer and redesign of heat exchanging chamber. Meanwhile, workshop improved the processing precision of drum and rotary wing shaft. Drying and crushing function are combined together well. These new improves are proved soon on our test running line. Therefore, OSC-AST air swept tubular dryer suitable for filter cake drying and crushing is given birth under the call of drying demands. OSC-AST air swept tubular dryer is also called air swept dryer, OSC-AST air swept tubular dryer and rotary wing dryer. Based on continuous experiment and improvement, raw materials suitable for being dried by OSC dryer are expanded, from semi solid plasma protein and sludge to vacuum dewatered sand stone micro powder and super light plastic materials. Most importantly, occupation area of OSC dryer is really small.
Afterword
Innovation is impetus for Taeda development. From drawing to test platform and commercial application, one new product always has to experience a period which will be longer and tougher than imagined. But, when one and one “new child” is put into industrial production, Taeda people are proud of it.
